My memories of Uncle Pete

Created by Esther 2 months ago
A warm smile and hug, always made me feel incredibly special, lots of laughter, rude jokes, endless card games as teens, passionate about fast motorbikes, lots of stories about school and the hovercraft competitions (one particularly gifted pupil - was his name Eran?), a film buff, an appreciator of dry cider, very talented with his hands - I have a beautiful wooden box he made, cared deeply about my children, very kind and concerned when my first marriage broke up, always fun, witty & interested.

His last email to me is very poignant, a response to my “Happy Birthday” email in March …

“Dear Esther, thanks but I’m afraid at 80 you realise how much you don’t know and how fast the world is leaving you behind. Had a great day, Pips came down to relieve Geoff who left at midday to go back to work that night! Your Mum and Dad came over bearing gifts and I spoke with Susan and my sister Sandy. A great day, my love to you both, Pete.”
